The Dalmadal Cannon is a massive wrought-iron cannon built in 1742, measuring 3.8 meters in length and weighing over 112 tons. It was commissioned by Malla king Gopal Singh to defend Bishnupur against Maratha raids. According to local legend, Krishna himself fired the cannon to save the town during an attack. Today, it stands inside the ruined Old Fort complex, which also includes water tanks, gateways, and a small museum. The surrounding Bishnupur Old Fort area is a protected archaeological zone and is often included in a Bishnupur travel guide.
