Bomdila

Bomdila is a small hill town in Arunachal Pradesh’s West Kameng district, often referred to as the Bomdila district headquarters, perched at an altitude of 2,530 metres. The local Bomdila tribe communities, mainly Monpa people, preserve rich traditions through handloom weaving, carpet making, and apple orchards introduced during the 1970s. Most travellers pause here for one night to adjust to the rising Bomdila temperature and altitude before crossing the high mountain route towards Sela Pass, sometimes referred to by visitors as Bomdila pass. The Bomdila to Tawang distance makes it a practical acclimatisation stop, yet the town itself rewards visitors with attractions that easily fill half a day each.
