Ajanta Caves

Ajanta Caves are a spectacular complex of 30 rock cut Buddhist monuments located in Maharashtra’s Aurangabad district, carved into a dramatic horseshoe shaped cliff above the Waghora River between the 2nd century BCE and the 6th century CE. Recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983, Ajanta is widely regarded as one of the greatest surviving achievements of ancient Indian art and among the most important cultural landmarks in Asia.
