Must-visit places and experiences
If you're after fancy tourist attractions, this won't be your place. But if you don't mind a relaxed tempo, just imagine such things as: tea plantations as far as the eye can see, loud markets, silent temples, and friendly grandpas insisting you drink tea. Besides, it's a great spot to go to Majuli, Sivasagar, or Kaziranga without the tourist crowd.
Very simple catch a bus or taxi to Nimatighat (about half an hour). Then board one of those rusty government ferries across Brahmaputra. They are working all day but the monsoon season disturbs the service so just ask the locals for the latest timetable.
Totally, no problem. Folks are super nice, getting around is simple, and food is very cheap. Even a single traveler hardly ever encounters any trouble.
