Sultanpur National Park

Sultanpur National Park is a 143-hectare wetland reserve in Haryana’s Gurgaon district, about 45 km from Delhi. Once a seasonal shallow lake, it was declared a bird sanctuary in 1972 on the recommendation of Peter Jackson. Today, the wetland supports over 250 bird species, including more than 100 winter migrants that arrive between November and March, the best time to visit Sultanpur National Park. Common sightings include bar-headed geese, northern shoveler, common teal, painted stork, and even the occasional Siberian crane. A 3.5-kilometer paved trail loops around the main lake, with four watchtowers positioned at strategic points, a central feature of every Sultanpur National Park itinerary.
