Alibaug

Alibaug is a coastal town in Maharashtra’s Raigad district, located about 95 kilometres from Mumbai across the harbour, making the Alibaug to Mumbai route one of the most popular weekend escapes for city residents. Easily reached by road via the Mumbai Goa highway or by catamaran ferry from the Gateway of India in about 60 minutes, Alibaug has evolved into a thriving leisure destination. Though there is currently no operational Alibaug airport, improved connectivity has boosted tourism significantly. The town is Alibaug famous for its sandy stretches such as Alibaug beach, Varsoli, Nagaon, Kihim, Mandwa, Akshi and the quieter Kashid, along with historic sea forts like Kolaba Fort built by Chhatrapati Shivaji as a naval base. Popular Alibaug tourist places blend Maratha heritage with beach relaxation, while Kashid, 30 kilometres south, offers a more peaceful coastal retreat.
