Sangla

Sangla is the main village of the Baspa Valley in Himachal’s Kinnaur district, set at 2,680 meters along the Baspa River. It is larger than Chitkul further upstream and offers a proper bazaar, comfortable guesthouses, and the historic Bering Nag temple, a 500-year-old wooden shrine. The valley floor is covered with apple orchards, while steep slopes are lined with chilgoza (pine nut) forests, adding to the charm of Sangla tourism. As a base for exploration, the village connects easily to nearby highlights like Chitkul (25 km), Rakcham (9 km), Batseri, and Kamru Fort, making it ideal for a relaxed Sangla trip. Though accessible throughout the year, the best time to visit Sangla is from May to October, when the valley is green and the peaks of Kinnaur Kailash (6,050 m) are clearly visible, enhancing your overall experience.
