Sakleshpur

Sakleshpur is a small hill town in Karnataka’s Hassan district, set at 949 meters in the Western Ghats, about 220 km from Bangalore. Though less famous than Coorg, it is arguably more dramatic, with dense Sahyadri ranges, peaks rising above 1,500 meters, and vast coffee, cardamom, and pepper estates covering steep, waterfall-lined slopes. One of the most unique things to do in Sakleshpur is exploring the abandoned Green Route railway, once linking Hassan to Mangalore through a spectacular 57-tunnel ghat section.
