The main attraction a freshwater pond just below the tower platform where deer, wild boar, and occasionally tigers come to drink. The salt-lick at the far edge keeps a herd of spotted deer in the area on most days. Early morning is when tigers are most likely to appear; afternoon sees more deer and boar.
Creek Approach to Sudhanyakhali
The 30-45 minute boat journey from Sajnekhali to Sudhanyakhali passes through narrow channels lined with mangrove pneumatophores the snorkel-like roots that sundari trees use to breathe in waterlogged soil. The boat-edge wildlife (kingfishers, kites, herons, monitor lizards, crocodiles on mudbanks) often outperforms the tower itself.
