About
Aga Khan Palace was built in 1892 by Sultan Aga Khan III and is best known as the place where Mahatma Gandhi, Kasturba Gandhi, and their secretary Mahadev Desai were interned by the British from 1942 to 1944 following the Quit India Movement, making it one of the most significant places to visit in Pune often featured in Pune tourism and every Pune travel guide. Kasturba Gandhi died here in 1944 and her samadhi is in the grounds, and Mahadev Desai also died in captivity, adding to its importance in Pune sightseeing and among the top attractions in Pune.
