Hunder Village is one of the most visited and visually striking destinations in Nubra Valley. Famous for its cold desert, double-humped Bactrian camels, and dramatic mountain scenery, the village offers a unique blend of nature, culture, and adventure that cannot be found anywhere else in Ladakh. Located along the banks of the Shyok River, Hunder was once an important stop on the ancient Silk Route connecting Ladakh with Central Asia. Traders and caravans passed through the valley carrying goods across the Himalayas, and the legacy of that era still survives through the region's famous Bactrian camels, descendants of the animals that once transported merchandise across these rugged landscapes.
