Raja Nahar Singh Palace stands quietly in Ballabgarh, looking almost modest until you step inside. Built in the 18th century, the palace reflects Mughal architectural influence with arched corridors, courtyards, and symmetrical balconies. It played a role during the 1857 revolt, adding a layer of historical weight to its calm appearance. The palace does not overwhelm with scale like Delhi’s Red Fort, but it carries dignity. The central courtyard often feels like a pause in time, especially during winter afternoons when sunlight softens the sandstone walls.

Badkhal Lake can be seen as Faridabad’s attempt at stillness. Originally developed in 1947 to manage floodwaters, it sits against the rocky Aravalli hills. Water levels vary, especially after monsoon seasons, but the surrounding terrain remains inviting for short hikes and sunrise walks. The Aravallis are among the oldest mountain ranges in the world. Standing here, even briefly, feels like stepping into geological time. When the lake fills after rains, reflections of the hills create a rare quiet beauty close to Delhi’s chaos.
