Mountain Meadow and Trekking Trail

About

Triund Hill rises dramatically above the Dharamkot ridge, acting as a spectacular natural balcony that looks directly onto the majestic, jagged granite walls of the Dhauladhar range. The trek to this high-altitude meadow is one of the most popular short hikes in the Himalayas, guiding trekkers through dense forests of oak, rhododendron, and deodar before opening up to a ridge of rolling green grass. Standing at the crest of Triund, you are treated to a breathtaking contrast of environments—sheer, snow-capped rock walls on one side and the massive, sprawling Kangra Valley on the other. The landscape feels grand, windswept, and deeply spiritual.

Things to Know

Tips for your visit
  • •Wear sturdy trekking shoes with good grip, as the final stretch (known as the "22 curves") is steep and covered in loose gravel.
  • •Carry a warm jacket even in summer, as the wind at the ridge can turn freezing cold within minutes.
  • •Plastic water bottles are strictly monitored along the trail; buy a reusable bottle or register your plastics at the forest checkpoint.
