Cubbon Park is a 300 acre urban park in the administrative centre of Bangalore, established in 1870 by Richard Sankey. Counted among the most prominent Bangalore places, the park is home to the red sandstone State Central Library, the Government Museum, the High Court, and the imposing Vidhana Soudha, the Karnataka state legislature. Built in the 1950s in an impressive Neo Dravidian granite style, Vidhana Soudha remains one of post independence India’s most recognisable civic landmarks. A walk from Vidhana Soudha through Cubbon Park to MG Road offers a classic introduction to the city and ranks high among places to visit in Bangalore.

What makes this place special

The 1956 granite legislature building, designed in Neo Dravidian style, is the largest structure of its kind in India and is illuminated spectacularly on state holidays, drawing visitors from across Bangalore.
