Signal Hill National Historic Site
About
Signal Hill is St. John's most recognizable landmark, standing sentinel over the harbor entrance. Crucial in the military defense of North America from the 18th century through World War II, the hill is also globally famous as the site where Guglielmo Marconi received the first-ever transatlantic wireless signal in 1901. Crowned by the stone Cabot Tower, the site offers breathtaking, 360-degree views of the historic city, the harbor, and the open Atlantic Ocean.
