Things to Know
- •Heavy marine fog can roll in suddenly and completely obscure the bridge, so check local weather webcams before heading out.
- •It is exceptionally windy and cold on the bridge span; dressing in heavy layers with a windproof jacket is essential even in mid-summer.
- •Walking across the bridge is completely free, but cyclists and drivers heading southbound back into the city must pay a toll (all tolls are electronic; there are no cash booths).
