The Big Buddha is a 45 metre Burmese white jade marble statue perched on Nakkerd Hill at 400 metres elevation, visible from much of southern Phuket island. Construction began in 2004 and continues to be funded entirely by public donations, with many travellers including those on a Phuket package choosing to sponsor inscribed marble tiles. The elevated platform provides sweeping 360 degree views across Chalong Bay, Kata, and Karon, making it one of the top 10 places to visit in Phuket. As this is a sacred site, modest dress is required and sarongs are available at the entrance.

What makes this place special

Visitors can purchase and inscribe a marble tile that becomes part of the structure, offering a meaningful way to contribute to the ongoing construction in Phuket.
