About

The Natural Bridge, whimsically named the "Howrah Bridge" by the island's early Bengali settlers, is a spectacular geological wonder located on the rocky shores of Laxmanpur Beach No. 2. Carved over centuries by the relentless action of wind and waves, this massive archway of dead coral and stone stands as a dramatic monument to nature's sculpting power. The approach to the bridge requires walking across an exposed, rocky reef flat that serves as a highly active natural aquarium at low tide, filled with small pools harboring colorful corals and marine life.

Things to Know

Tips for your visit
  • •This attraction can only be accessed during low tide; check local tide charts daily as high tide completely submerges the rocky pathway and makes it impassable.
  • •Sturdy, non-slip footwear or water shoes are absolutely essential, as walking over the wet, sharp coral reef can be highly slippery and dangerous.
  • •Local guides are available at the entrance for a nominal fee and are highly recommended to help you safely navigate the reef and spot hidden marine life.
