Golden Roof (Goldenes Dachl)

The Golden Roof is the most famous landmark in Innsbruck, situated in the heart of the medieval old town. Built in 1500 by Emperor Maximilian I, this beautiful late-Gothic alcove balcony is decorated with over twenty-six hundred fire-gilded copper tiles. The accompanying museum explores the history of the monument and the life of the emperor.
