Trinity College Library and the Book of Kells

Trinity College is Ireland's oldest university, founded in 1592. The crown jewel of the campus is the Old Library, which houses the Book of Kells, a spectacular, ninth-century illuminated manuscript containing the four Gospels. Visitors can walk through the breathtaking Long Room, a sixty-five-meter barrel-vaulted library lined with marble busts and thousands of rare books.
